Due to capacity shortage there were four boilers added in 1860. Because there was no room the boiler house had be built in two wings over the flow tubes.

In 1888, the entire battery was worn. All 10 boilers had to be replaced by 8 boilers of another type with a higher steam pressure and a higher return.

In 1912, the Cruquius became redundant and a backup station. And finally the curtain fell in 1932 and was the station was stopped, with the intention to subsequently break it down. The official closure, surrounded by some ceremony, would be only one year later.
