The active periodThe three pumping stations continued pumping the 800 million m³ of water that contained the Haarlemmermeer away. It often had to be stopped for maintenance and repairs, or as much rainfall in the bosom of the pumped water could not handle. Due to capacity shortage there were four boilers added in 1860. Because there was no room the boiler house had be built in two wings over the flow tubes. In 1912, the Cruquius became redundant and a backup station. And finally the curtain fell in 1932 and was the station was stopped, with the intention to subsequently break it down.
